I bear witness that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed before the sermon on the day of Eid, then he delivered the sermon. Realizing that the women had not heard him, he came over to them, reminded them, admonished them, and instructed them to give in charity. So a woman would toss in her earring, her ring, or whatever she had.

أشهد على رسول الله ﷺ صلى قبل الخطبة في العيد ثم خطب فرأى أنه لم يسمع النساء فأتاهن فذكرهن ووعظهن وأمرهن بالصدقة فجعلت المرأة تلقي الخرص والخاتم والشيء
Its isnad is sahih. The group (of hadith compilers) narrated it at length and in abridged form, see Muntaqa 1675, 1676. Al-khurs, with the kha vowelled either with damma or kasra and the ra with sukun, means the small ring of jewelry, from the jewelry worn on the ear. See also 1983, 2169, 2171, 2173, 2533.
