I accompanied him to Wasit. He used to mention the name of Allah at the beginning of his meal, and with his last morsel he would say, "In the name of Allah, at its beginning and its end."So I asked him, "You say the name of Allah at the start of your meal, but what about your saying at the end of it, 'In the name of Allah, at its beginning and its end'?"He replied, "Let me tell you about that. My grandfather Umaya bin Makhshi, who was among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, told me that he heard him say, A man was eating while the Prophet ﷺ was watching, and he did not mention the name of Allah. When only one morsel of his food remained, he said, 'In the name of Allah, at its beginning and its end.' The Prophet ﷺ then said, 'Satan kept on eating with him until he mentioned the name of Allah, then nothing remained in his stomach except that he vomited it out.'"
