Umar said to Suhayb, "Were it not for three traits in you, there would be nothing wrong with you."Suhayb asked, "What are they? By Allah, we do not see you finding fault with anything."Umar replied, "Your taking the kunya Abu Yahya when you have no son, your claiming descent from al-Namir bin Qasit while you are a man with a foreign accent, and your not holding on to wealth."Suhayb answered, "As for my taking the kunya Abu Yahya, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me that kunya, so I will not abandon it until I meet him. As for my claiming descent from al-Namir bin Qasit, I am indeed one of them, but I was sent out to be nursed in Aylah, and that is where this accent comes from. As for the wealth, do you see me spending it on anything other than what is right?"

لصهيب رضي الله عنهما لولا ثلاث خصال فيك لم يكن بك بأس قال وما هن فوالله ما نراك تعيب شيئا قال اكتناؤك بأبي يحيى وليس لك ولد وادعاؤك إلى النمر بن قاسط وأنت رجل ألكن وأنك لا تمسك المال قال أما اكتنائي بأبي يحيى فإن رسول الله ﷺ كناني بها فلا أدعها حتى ألقاه وأما ادعائي إلى النمر بن قاسط فإني امرؤ منهم ولكن استرضع لي بالأيلة فهذه اللكنة من ذاك وأما المال فهل تراني أنفق إلا في حق
