The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Recite the Quran as long as your hearts are in harmony over it, but when you differ, then get up and leave it."Abdul-Rahman said that Hammad bin Zayd did not trace it back to the Prophet.
حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي حدثنا سلام بن أبي مطيع عن أبي عمران الجوني
قال رسول الله ﷺ اقرءوا القرآن ما ائتلفت عليه قلوبكم فإذا اختلفتم فقوموا قال يعني عبد الرحمن ولم يرفعه حماد بن زيد
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Sallam bin Abu Muti is reliable and knowledgeable, and his hadith appears in the collections of all the major compilers. Abu Imran Jawni is Abdul-Malik bin Habib, likewise, and this has come up many times before. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari, 9/101, no. 5061, Fath al-Bari, in the chapters on the merits of the Quran, and by Muslim, 4/2053, no. 2667, in the chapters on knowledge, and by Darimi, 2/534, no. 3359.
