His father had met the Prophet ﷺ, and he himself rode behind his father during the Farewell Pilgrimage.He said, "I said, 'Father, show me the Prophet ﷺ.'His father said, 'Stand up and hold on to the middle of the saddle.'So I stood and grasped the middle of the saddle, and he said, 'Look at the man on the red camel, the one gesturing with his hand, holding a staff.'"
حدثنا حسن بن موسى حدثنا رافع بن سلمة يعني الأشجعي وسالم بن أبي الجعد عن أبيه قال حدثني
أن أباه قد أدرك النبي ﷺ وكان ردفا خلف أبيه في حجة الوداع قال فقلت يا أبت أرني النبي ﷺ قال قم فخذ بواسطة الرحل قال فقمت فأخذت بواسطة الرحل فقال انظر إلى صاحب الجمل الأحمر الذي يومئ بيده في يده القضيب

Its isnad is sahih. Salama bin Rafi Ashjai is the Ghatafani, and he is trustworthy. Ibn Hibban rated him trustworthy, and Dhahabi and Ibn Hajar followed him in that. The hadith has appeared many times before with the same story. See 17533.
