I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he said, "Call Zayd to come to me with the shoulder-bone and the inkwell," or, "with the tablet and the inkwell."Then he dictated, "Not equal are those believers who sit at home and the mujahidun in the path of Allah." He said, "This is how it was revealed."Ibn Umm Maktum, who was behind him, said, "Messenger of Allah, I have an impairment in my eyes."So before he had even left the spot, the words "except those who have an impairment" were revealed.
حدثنا هاشم بن القاسم قال حدثنا زهير حدثنا أبو إسحاق
كنت عند رسول الله ﷺ فقال ادعوا إلي زيدا يجيء أو يأتي بالكتف والدواة أو اللوح والدواة كتب لا يستوي القاعدون من المؤمنين والمجاهدون في سبيل الله قال هكذا نزلت قال فقال ابن أم مكتوم وهو خلف ظهره يا رسول الله إن بعيني ضررا قال فنزلت قبل أن يبرح {غير أولي الضرر}
