He had a camel that was prone to causing damage, and it entered a walled garden and ruined what was in it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that guarding gardens during the day is the responsibility of their owners, that guarding livestock at night is the responsibility of their owners, and that whatever damage livestock cause at night is the liability of their owners.
حدثنا محمد بن مصعب حدثنا الأوزاعي عن الزهري عن حرام بن محيصة
أنه كانت له ناقة ضارية فدخلت حائطا فأفسدت فيه فقضى رسول الله ﷺ أن حفظ الحوائط بالنهار على أهلها وأن حفظ الماشية بالليل على أهلها وأن ما أصابت الماشية بالليل فهو على أهلها
Its chain is daif, due to the obscurity of Haram bin Muhayyisa. The hadith is hasan. It was narrated by Abu Dawud, 3/298, no. 3570, in "Business Transactions," on livestock damaging a people's crops, and Ibn Majah, 2/781, no. 2332, in "Rulings," with similar wording, and Malik, 2/47, in "Judgments."
