Abu Dawud reported,

I met Bara bin Azib, and he greeted me, took my hand, and smiled at me.He asked, "Do you know why I did this with you?"I replied, "I do not know, but I see you have done it only for good."He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ met me and did with me just as I have done with you. He asked me the same question, and I gave him the same answer you have given me. He then said, 'There are no two Muslims who meet, and one greets the other and takes his hand, taking it only for the sake of Allah , except that they do not part before they are both forgiven.'"

حدثنا ابن نمير أخبرنا مالك

عن أبي داود قال

لقيت البراء بن عازب فسلم علي وأخذ بيدي وضحك في وجهي قال تدري لم فعلت هذا بك قال قلت لا أدري ولكن لا أراك فعلته إلا لخير قال إنه لقيني رسول الله ﷺ ففعل بي مثل الذي فعلت بك فسألني فقلت مثل الذي قلت لي فقال ما من مسلمين يلتقيان فيسلم أحدهما على صاحبه ويأخذ بيده لا يأخذه إلا لله عز وجل لا يتفرقان حتى يغفر لهما
