Numan bin Bashir wrote to Qays bin al-Haytham, "You are our brothers and our kin. We witnessed what you did not witness and heard what you did not hear. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, 'Before the Hour there will be tribulations like patches of dark night. A man will wake up a believer and reach evening a disbeliever, and people will sell their share in the Hereafter for a trifling worldly gain.'"

أن النعمان بن بشير كتب إلى قيس بن الهيثم إنكم إخواننا وأشقاؤنا وإنا شهدنا ولم تشهدوا وسمعنا ولم تسمعوا وإن رسول الله ﷺ كان يقول إن بين يدي الساعة فتنا كأنها قطع الليل المظلم يصبح الرجل فيها مؤمنا ويمسي كافرا ويبيع فيها أقوام خلاقهم بعرض من الدنيا
