Numan bin Bashir reported,

On the pulpit of Homs, he said, "We stood in prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the night of the twenty-third of Ramadan until the first third of the night had passed. Then we stood with him on the night of the twenty-fifth until half the night had passed. Then he led us in prayer on the night of the twenty-seventh until we feared we would miss the falah." He explained that they used to call the predawn meal falah.He continued, "We say the seventh night is the night of the twenty-seventh, while you say the seventh night is the night of the twenty-third. So who is more correct, us or you?"

على منبر حمص قمنا مع رسول الله ﷺ ليلة ثلاث وعشرين في شهر رمضان إلى ثلث الليل الأول ثم قمنا معه ليلة خمس وعشرين إلى نصف الليل ثم قام بنا ليلة سبع وعشرين حتى ظننا أن لا ندرك الفلاح قال وكنا ندعو السحور الفلاح فأما نحن فنقول ليلة السابعة ليلة سبع وعشرين وأنتم تقولون ليلة ثلاث وعشرين السابعة فمن أصوب نحن أو أنتم
