Iyad bin Himar reported,

He related that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say in his sermon, "Allah has commanded me to teach you what you do not know," then he mentioned the hadith and said, "The weak one who has no restraint, those among you who are mere followers seeking neither family nor wealth."A man said to Mutarrif, "Abu Abdullah, is he from the freed slaves or from the Arabs?"He replied, "He is the dependent who is attached to a man, one whom the man has taken from among his servants through fornication rather than marriage."He said, "The people of paradise are three. A just ruler who gives charitably and has firm conviction, a merciful man with a tender heart toward every relative and Muslim, and a chaste poor man who gives charity."Hammam said, one of Qatada's companions, and I only know him to be Yunus al-Iskaf, told me that Qatada did not hear the hadith of Iyad bin Himar from Mutarrif. I said, "He narrated it to us from Mutarrif, yet you say he did not hear it from Mutarrif?"He said, "Then an Arabi came and began questioning him and was bold with him. So we said to the Arabi, 'Ask him whether he heard the hadith of Iyad bin Himar from Mutarrif.' He asked him, and Qatada said, 'No, four people narrated it to me from Mutarrif,' and he named three of those whom I told you about."

حدثه أنه سمع النبي ﷺ يقول في خطبته إن الله عز وجل أمرني أن أعلمكم ما جهلتم فذكر الحديث وقال الضعيف الذي لا زبر له الذين هم فيكم تبع لا يبتغون أهلا ولا مالا قال قال رجل لمطرف يا أبا عبد الله أمن الموالي هو أو من العرب قال هو التابعة يكون للرجل يصيب من خدمه سفاحا غير نكاح وقال أهل الجنة ثلاثة ذو سلطان مقسط مصدق موقن ورجل رحيم رقيق القلب بكل ذي قربى ومسلم ورجل عفيف فقير متصدق قال همام قال بعض أصحاب قتادة ولا أعلمه إلا قال يونس الإسكاف قال لي إن قتادة لم يسمع حديث عياض بن حمار من مطرف قلت هو حدثنا عن مطرف وتقول أنت لم يسمعه من مطرف قال فجاء أعرابي فجعل يسأله واجترأ عليه قال فقلنا للأعرابي سله هل سمع حديث عياض بن حمار عن مطرف فسأله فقال لا حدثني أربعة عن مطرف فسمى ثلاثة الذي قلت لكم
