I said to Adi bin Hatim, "A report has reached me about you that I would like to hear from you directly."He said, "Yes. When news of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ mission reached me, I detested it intensely, so I left and ended up in Roman territory."Yazid, in Baghdad, narrated it as, "until I came before Caesar."He continued, "But I detested being in that place even more than I had detested his mission. So I said to myself, 'By Allah, why don't I go to this man? If he is a liar, he will not harm me, and if he is truthful, I will know.'So I set out and came to him. When I arrived, the people said, 'Adi bin Hatim, Adi bin Hatim.' I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said to me, 'Adi bin Hatim, accept Islam and you will be safe,' three times.I said, 'I already follow a religion.'He said, 'I know your religion better than you do.'I said, 'You know my religion better than I do?'He said, 'Yes. Are you not from the Rakusiyyah, and do you not consume a quarter of your people's spoils?'I said, 'Yes.'He said, 'That is not lawful for you in your own religion.'"Adi said, "He had hardly finished saying it when I felt humbled before him. Then he said, 'I know what keeps you from Islam. You say that only the weak and powerless follow him, those whom the Arabs have cast aside. Do you know al-Hirah?'I said, 'I have not seen it, but I have heard of it.'He said, 'By the One in whose hand is my soul, Allah will bring this matter to completion until a woman travels alone from al-Hirah and circumambulates the Kabah without anyone's protection, and the treasures of Kisra bin Hurmuz will be opened.'I said, 'Kisra bin Hurmuz?'He said, 'Yes, Kisra bin Hurmuz. And wealth will be given out so freely that no one will accept it.'"Adi bin Hatim said, "Now this woman travels from al-Hirah and circumambulates the House without anyone's protection, and I myself was among those who opened the treasures of Kisra bin Hurmuz. By the One in whose hand is my soul, the third will surely come to pass, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has said it."
حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا هشام بن حسان عن محمد بن سيرين عن أبي عبيدة
قلت لعدي بن حاتم حديث بلغني عنك أحب أن أسمعه منك قال نعم لما بلغني خروج رسول الله ﷺ فكرهت خروجه كراهة شديدة خرجت حتى وقعت ناحية الروم وقال يعني يزيد ببغداد حتى قدمت على قيصر قال فكرهت مكاني ذلك أشد من كراهيتي لخروجه قال فقلت والله لولا أتيت هذا الرجل فإن كان كاذبا لم يضرني وإن كان صادقا علمت قال فقدمت فأتيته فلما قدمت قال الناس عدي بن حاتم عدي بن حاتم قال فدخلت على رسول الله ﷺ فقال لي يا عدي بن حاتم أسلم تسلم ثلاثا قال قلت إني على دين قال أنا أعلم بدينك منك فقلت أنت أعلم بديني مني قال نعم ألست من الركوسية وأنت تأكل مرباع قومك قلت بلى قال فإن هذا لا يحل لك في دينك قال فلم يعد أن قالها فتواضعت لها فقال أما إني أعلم ما الذي يمنعك من الإسلام تقول إنما اتبعه ضعفة الناس ومن لا قوة له وقد رمتهم العرب أتعرف الحيرة قلت لم أرها وقد سمعت بها قال فوالذي نفسي بيده ليتمن الله هذا الأمر حتى تخرج الظعينة من الحيرة حتى تطوف بالبيت في غير جوار أحد وليفتحن كنوز كسرى بن هرمز قال قلت كسرى بن هرمز قال نعم كسرى بن هرمز وليبذلن المال حتى لا يقبله أحد قال عدي بن حاتم فهذه الظعينة تخرج من الحيرة فتطوف بالبيت في غير جوار ولقد كنت فيمن فتح كنوز كسرى بن هرمز والذي نفسي بيده لتكونن الثالثة لأن رسول الله ﷺ قد قالها
