I stayed behind with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the expedition of Tabuk. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to relieve himself, then returned to me while I had the water vessel with me.I poured water over the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ hands, and then he blew water out of his nose. Yaqub said, then he rinsed his mouth, then washed his face three times. Then he wanted to wash his hands, but before pulling them out of the sleeves of his cloak, he found the sleeves too tight, so he pulled his arms out from beneath the cloak. He washed his right arm three times and his left arm three times, and wiped over his leather socks without removing them.He then headed toward the people and found that they had already put Abdul-Rahman bin Awf forward to lead them in prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ caught up with one of the two rakahs, praying the final rakah with the people behind Abdul-Rahman.When Abdul-Rahman gave the salam, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood to complete his prayer. This alarmed the Muslims, and they began saying "Subhan Allah" repeatedly. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, he turned to them and said, "You have done well and acted correctly," expressing approval that they had prayed the prayer at its proper time.
حدثنا سعد ويعقوب قالا حدثنا أبي عن صالح عن ابن شهاب حدثني عباد بن زياد قال سعد أبي سفيان عن عروة بن المغيرة
تخلفت مع رسول الله ﷺ في غزوة تبوك فتبرز رسول الله ﷺ ثم رجع إلي ومعي الإداوة قال فصببت على يدي رسول الله ﷺ ثم استنثر قال يعقوب ثم تمضمض ثم غسل وجهه ثلاث مرات ثم أراد أن يغسل يديه قبل أن يخرجهما من كمي جبته فضاق عنه كماها فأخرج يده من الجبة فغسل يده اليمنى ثلاث مرات ويده اليسرى ثلاث مرات ومسح بخفيه ولم ينزعهما ثم عمد إلى الناس فوجدهم قد قدموا عبد الرحمن بن عوف يصلي بهم فأدرك رسول الله ﷺ إحدى الركعتين فصلى مع الناس الركعة الآخرة بصلاة عبد الرحمن فلما سلم عبد الرحمن قام رسول الله ﷺ يتم صلاته فأفزع المسلمين فأكثروا التسبيح فلما قضى رسول الله ﷺ أقبل عليهم فقال قد أحسنتم وأصبتم يغبطهم أن صلوا الصلاة لوقتها
