Abu Qilaba reported,

When Uthman was killed, orators rose to speak in Iliya. The last to stand was a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ named Mura bin Kaab. He said, "Were it not for a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I would not have stood. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned a tribulation, and I believe he said it was near"—Ismail was uncertain on this point—"when a man passed by with his head covered. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'This man and his companions will be upon the truth on that day.' So I went and took hold of his shoulder and turned his face toward the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked, 'This one?' He said, 'Yes.'"And it turned out to be Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him.

عن أبي قلابة قال

لما قتل عثمان رضي الله عنه قام خطباء بإيلياء فقام من آخرهم رجل من أصحاب النبي ﷺ يقال له مرة بن كعب فقال لولا حديث سمعته من رسول الله ﷺ ما قمت إن رسول الله ﷺ ذكر فتنة وأحسبه قال فقربها شك إسماعيل فمر رجل متقنع فقال هذا وأصحابه يومئذ على الحق فانطلقت فأخذت بمنكبه وأقبلت بوجهه إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقلت هذا قال نعم قال فإذا هو عثمان رضي الله تعالى عنه
