We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the expedition of Tabuk, and a companion of ours was with us. He got into a fight with one of the Muslims, and that man bit him on the forearm. Our companion pulled his arm out of the man's mouth, knocking out one of his front teeth.The man then went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seeking compensation. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Does one of you go to his brother and bite him like a stallion, then come seeking compensation? You get no blood-money."The narrator said, "So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ declared it void," meaning he nullified the claim.

خرجنا مع رسول الله ﷺ في غزوة تبوك معنا صاحب لنا فاقتتل هو ورجل من المسلمين فعض ذلك الرجل بذراعه فاجتبذ يده من فيه فطرح ثنيته فذهب الرجل إلى رسول الله ﷺ يسأله العقل فقال رسول الله ﷺ ينطلق أحدكم إلى أخيه يعضه عضيض الفحل ثم يأتي يلتمس العقل لا دية لك قال فأطلها رسول الله ﷺ يعني فأبطلها
Its isnad is sahih. Muhammad bin Ishaq explicitly said "he narrated to us." The hadith appears in the authentic collections with a different wording that will come later, and this wording was reported by Nasai 8/30, Ibn Majah 2657, Tabarani in Al-Kabir 7/63, Daraqutni 4/222, and Hakim 3/424 in the section on knowledge of the companions, but there it is attributed to Salama bin Umaya, the brother of Yaala.
