The last words the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke to me, when he appointed me as governor over Taif, were, "Make the prayer light for the people." He then specified for me, "Recite Read in the name of your Lord who created and similar surahs from the Quran."
حدثنا معاوية بن عمرو عن زائدة عن عبد الله بن خثيم قال حدثني داود بن أبي عاصم الثقفي
أن آخر كلام كلمني به رسول الله ﷺ إذ استعملني على الطائف فقال خفف الصلاة على الناس حتى وقت لي اقرأ باسم ربك الذي خلق وأشباهها من القرآن
