Abbas had a drainpipe extending over the path that Umar bin Khattab used to walk on. One Friday, Umar put on his clothes for the Friday prayer. Two young birds had been slaughtered for Abbas, and when Umar passed beneath the drainpipe, water mixed with the blood of the two birds poured down and struck him, staining his clothes with the blood. Umar ordered that the drainpipe be torn down. He then returned home, took off his clothes, put on different garments, and came back to lead the people in prayer.Abbas came to him and said, "By Allah, that is the very spot where the Prophet ﷺ placed it."Umar said to Abbas, "I insist that you climb upon my back so you may set it back in the very place where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had placed it."So Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, did so.
حدثنا أسباط بن محمد حدثنا هشام بن سعد عن عبيد الله بن
كان للعباس ميزاب على طريق عمر بن الخطاب فلبس عمر ثيابه يوم الجمعة وقد كان ذبح للعباس فرخان فلما وافى الميزاب صب ماء بدم الفرخين فأصاب عمر وفيه دم الفرخين فأمر عمر بقلعه ثم رجع عمر فطرح ثيابه ولبس ثيابا غير ثيابه ثم جاء فصلى بالناس فأتاه العباس فقال والله إنه للموضع الذي وضعه النبي ﷺ فقال عمر للعباس وأنا أعزم عليك لما صعدت على ظهري حتى تضعه في الموضع الذي وضعه رسول الله ﷺ ففعل ذلك العباس رضي الله تعالى عنه
