"Messenger of Allah, Satan has come between me and my prayer and my recitation."He said, "That is a devil called Khinzab. When you sense him, seek refuge with Allah from him and spit lightly to your left three times."He said, "I did that, and Allah drove him away from me."
حدثنا إسماعيل بن إبراهيم عن الجريري عن أبي العلاء بن الشخير أن
يا رسول الله حال الشيطان بيني وبين صلاتي وبين قراءتي قال ذاك شيطان يقال له خنزب فإذا أنت حسسته فتعوذ بالله منه واتفل عن يسارك ثلاثا قال ففعلت ذاك فأذهبه الله عز وجل عني
Its isnad is sahih, its narrators are trustworthy and well-known, and Abu Ala ibn Shakhir is Yazid bin Abdullah. Muslim narrated the hadith with similar wording, 4/1728, no. 2203, in the Book of Greetings, on seeking refuge from the devil of whispered suggestions. Tabarani also narrated it in Al-Kabir, 9/43, no. 8368.
