Abu Thalaba reported,

I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, write for me a grant of such-and-such land in the land of Sham." The Prophet ﷺ had not yet conquered it at that time.The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do you not hear what this man is saying?"Abu Thalaba said, "By the One in whose hand my soul is, you will surely conquer it."So he wrote the grant for him.I said to him, "Messenger of Allah, our land is a hunting land. I send out my trained dog and my untrained dog."He said, "When you send out your trained dog and mention the name of Allah, eat whatever your trained dog catches for you, even if it kills it. If you send out your untrained dog and reach the prey while it is still alive and slaughter it properly, then eat. And eat whatever your arrow brings down, even if it kills it, and mention the name of Allah."I said, "Prophet of Allah, our land is the land of the People of the Book, and they eat the flesh of swine and drink wine. How should I deal with their vessels and pots?"He said, "If you cannot find others, then wash them, cook in them, and drink from them."I said, "Messenger of Allah, what is permitted to us from what is forbidden to us?"He said, "Do not eat the flesh of domesticated donkeys, nor any predatory animal with fangs."

حدثنا عبد الرزاق حدثنا معمر عن أيوب عن أبي قلابة

عن أبي ثعلبة الخشني قال

أتيت النبي ﷺ فقلت يا رسول الله اكتب لي بأرض كذا وكذا بأرض الشام لم يظهر عليها النبي ﷺ حينئذ فقال النبي ﷺ ألا تسمعون إلى ما يقول هذا فقال أبو ثعلبة والذي نفسي بيده لتظهرن عليها قال فكتب له بها قال قلت له يا رسول الله إن أرضنا أرض صيد فأرسل كلبي المكلب وكلبي الذي ليس بمكلب قال إذا أرسلت كلبك المكلب وسميت فكل ما أمسك عليك كلبك المكلب وإن قتل وإن أرسلت كلبك الذي ليس بمكلب فأدركت ذكاته فكل وكل ما رد عليك سهمك وإن قتل وسم الله قال قلت يا نبي الله إن أرضنا أرض أهل كتاب وإنهم يأكلون لحم الخنزير ويشربون الخمر فكيف أصنع بآنيتهم وقدورهم قال إن لم تجدوا غيرها فارحضوها واطبخوا فيها واشربوا قال قلت يا رسول الله ما يحل لنا مما يحرم علينا قال لا تأكلوا لحوم الحمر الإنسية ولا كل ذي ناب من السباع
