He witnessed the Prophet ﷺ performing the funeral prayer over a deceased person and heard him say, "Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those present among us and those absent, our young and our old, our males and our females."The narrator said, Abu Salama related to me these eight phrases, and Wazad added two more phrases, "Whoever among us You keep alive, let him live upon Islam, and whoever among us You take in death, take him upon faith."
حدثنا عفان حدثنا همام أخبرنا يحيى بن أبي كثير حدثنا
أنه شهد النبي ﷺ صلى على ميت فسمعه يقول اللهم اغفر لحينا وميتنا وشاهدنا وغائبنا وصغيرنا وكبيرنا وذكرنا وأنثانا قال وحدثني أبو سلمة بهؤلاء الثمان الكلمات وزاد كلمتين من أحييته منا فأحيه على الإسلام ومن توفيته منا فتوفه على الإيمان
