Abdullah bin Zayd reported,

Uqba bin Amir al-Juhani used to go out and shoot arrows every day, taking a companion with him. One day his companion seemed about to grow weary, so Uqba said to him, "Shall I tell you what I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"The man replied, "Yes."Uqba said, "I heard him say, 'Allah عز وجل admits three people into Paradise on account of a single arrow. Its maker, who intends good in its crafting, the one who supplies it for the cause of Allah, and the one who shoots it in the cause of Allah.' And he said, 'Shoot and ride, but shooting is better than riding.' And he said, 'Everything with which a son of Adam amuses himself is vain, except for three things. A man's shooting with his bow, his training of his horse, and his playing with his wife. These belong to what is rightful.'"When Uqba died, he left behind some sixty-odd, or seventy-odd, bows, each with its quiver and arrows, and he bequeathed them all for the cause of Allah.
