A blind man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Pray to Allah to restore my sight."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "If you wish, I will pray for you, but if you wish, I will delay that, for it would be better."The man said, "Pray for me."So he instructed him to perform ablution thoroughly, then pray two units of prayer, and supplicate with these words, "O Allah, I ask You and turn to You through Your Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet of mercy. Muhammad, I have turned through you to my Lord regarding this need of mine, that it may be fulfilled for me. O Allah, accept his intercession on my behalf."

Its isnad is sahih. Abu Jafar Khatami is Umayr bin Yazid bin Umayr bin Habib Madani. Ibn Main deemed him trustworthy, Ibn Mahdi praised him, and Ibn Hibban also deemed him trustworthy. Umara bin Khuzayma bin Thabit Ansari is a trustworthy narrator by unanimous agreement.The hadith was narrated by Tirmidhi 5/569, number 3578, in the chapter on supplications, where he said, hasan sahih gharib. Ibn Majah narrated it 1/441, number 1385, in the chapter on establishing prayer, in the section on what has been said about the prayer of need, and Munziri graded it sahih in Targheeb 1/473, as did Hakim 1/373, 519, 526, and Dhahabi agreed with him in the last of these places.Tabarani included it in Al-Kabir through multiple routes similar to Ahmad's version, and Haythami said, 2/279, sahih through multiple routes. It is also found in Ibn Sunni's Amal Al-Yawm 202, number 622.
