Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Harith Taymi narrated to me, regarding the prayer upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a Muslim invokes blessings upon him during his ritual prayer, from Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Zayd bin Abd Rabbih al-Ansari, brother of Banu Harith bin Khazraj, from Abu Masud Uqba bin Amr, who said:A man came forward and sat before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while we were with him, and said, "Messenger of Allah, as for the greeting of peace upon you, we already know it. But how should we invoke blessings upon you when we send blessings during our prayer?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent, until we wished the man had not asked him.Then he said, "When you invoke blessings upon me, say, 'O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet, and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, and bestow Your favor upon Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet, and upon the family of Ibrahim, as You bestowed Your favor upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.'"
حدثنا يعقوب حدثنا أبي
وحدثني في الصلاة على رسول الله ﷺ إذا المرء المسلم صلى عليه في صلاته محمد بن إبراهيم بن الحارث التيمي عن محمد بن عبد الله بن زيد بن عبد ربه الأنصاري أخي بلحارث بن الخزرج عن أبي مسعود عقبة بن عمرو قال أقبل رجل حتى جلس بين يدي رسول الله ﷺ ونحن عنده فقال يا رسول الله أما السلام عليك فقد عرفناه فكيف نصلي عليك إذا نحن صلينا في صلاتنا صلى الله عليك قال فصمت رسول الله ﷺ حتى أحببنا أن الرجل لم يسأله فقال إذا أنتم صليتم علي فقولوا اللهم صل على محمد النبي الأمي وعلى آل محمد كما صليت على إبراهيم وآل إبراهيم وبارك على محمد النبي الأمي كما باركت على إبراهيم وعلى آل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد
