Maslama bin Muqlid, who was the governor of Egypt, offered Ruwayfi bin Thabit the position of overseeing the tithes. Ruwayfi replied, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'The collector of unjust taxes is in the Fire.'"

Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Ibn Lahia. As for Abu Khair, he is Marthad bin Abdullah al-Yazani, the trustworthy, well-known Egyptian jurist. Haythami also graded it hasan in 3/88, and he pointed to this in Targhib 1/568.
