Muawiya bin Abu Sufyan reported,

Beware of narrating hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except for those that were circulated during the time of Umar, for Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, was the most fearful of people regarding Allah .I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whomever Allah wishes good for, He grants him understanding of the religion."

حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي عن معاوية بن صالح عن ربيعة بن يزيد عن عبد الله بن عامر اليحصبي قال

سمعت معاوية يحدث وهو يقول

إياكم وأحاديث رسول الله ﷺ إلا حديثا كان على عهد عمر وإن عمر رضي الله تعالى عنه كان أخاف الناس في الله عز وجل سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول من يرد الله به خيرا يفقه في الدين
