Sabi bin Mabad reported,

I was a Christian man, then I embraced Islam and entered the state of ihram for both Hajj and Umrah together. Zayd bin Sawhan and Salman bin Rabia heard me reciting the talbiyah for both of them, and they said, "This man is more lost than his family's stray camel."Their words felt as though a mountain had been placed upon me. I came to Umar and told him what had happened. He turned to them and rebuked them, then turned to me and said, "You have been guided to the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ. You have been guided to the Sunnah of your Prophet ﷺ."Abdah said that Abu Waail said, "Masruq and I often went to Subayy to ask him about this."

حدثنا سفيان عن عبدة بن أبي لبابة عن أبي وائل قال

قال الصبي بن معبد

كنت رجلا نصرانيا فأسلمت فأهللت بالحج والعمرة فسمعني زيد بن صوحان وسلمان بن ربيعة وأنا أهل بهما فقالا لهذا أضل من بعير أهله فكأنما حمل علي بكلمتهما جبل فقدمت على عمر رضي الله عنه فأخبرته فأقبل عليهما فلامهما وأقبل علي فقال هديت لسنة النبي ﷺ هديت لسنة نبيك ﷺ قال عبدة قال أبو وائل كثيرا ما ذهبت أنا ومسروق إلى الصبي نسأله عنه
