Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf reported,

I asked him, "Will you not narrate to me a hadith from your father, one that your father heard directly from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He said to him that Ramadan was approaching, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Ramadan is a month in which Allah has made fasting obligatory, and I have made standing in prayer during its nights a sunnah for the Muslims. Whoever fasts it out of faith and seeking reward will emerge from his sins as on the day his mother bore him."

عن أبي سلمة بن عبد الرحمن قال

قلت له ألا تحدثني حديثا عن أبيك سمعه أبوك من رسول الله ﷺ فقال له أقبل رمضان فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن رمضان شهر افترض الله عز وجل صيامه وإني سننت للمسلمين قيامه فمن صامه إيمانا واحتسابا خرج من الذنوب كيوم ولدته أمه
