I found this hadith in my father's book in his own handwriting. Bakr bin Yazid narrated to us, and I think I also heard it from him during a study session but did not write it down. Bakr used to stay in Medina, and I believe this was during the period of the trial. He had crossed out this hadith in his book.He said, Bakr bin Yazid narrated to us, he said, Abu Bakr, meaning Ibn Abu Maryam, reported to us from Atiya bin Qays al-Kilabi that Muawiya bin Abu Sufyan said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The two eyes are the drawstring of the anus, so when the eyes sleep, the drawstring loosens."

Its isnad is daif because of Abu Bakr bin Abdullah bin Abu Maryam. We have previously graded his hadith as hasan due to a corroborating narration, but here he has confused the chain, to the point that he even confused the name of the companion, as the memorizers of hadith have said. The memorizers narrated it from Ali, as found in Abu Dawud 1/52, number 203, in the Book of Purification, chapter on wudu after sleep, and Ibn Majah 1/161, number 477, similarly.As for Bakr bin Yazid, he is al-Himsi al-Tawil. Ibn Hibban rated him trustworthy and Abu Hatim confirmed his truthfulness, as mentioned in al-Tajil.As for Darimi, he narrated it the same way, as did Ahmad 1/198, number 722, and likewise Tayalisi 58, number 207 in Minhah. Haythami declared it daif at 1/247 because of Abu Bakr bin Abu Maryam.As for the meaning of his statement "the tie of the anus," al-wika is the binding, and al-sah is the rear passage. That is, as long as a person is awake, he holds himself bound, but when he sleeps, the binding is released.
