Humayd bin Abdul-Rahman reported,

He saw Muawiya delivering a sermon from the pulpit holding in his hand a tuft of hair. He said, I heard him say, "Where are your scholars, people of Medina? I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid the like of this, and he said, 'The Children of Israil were only punished when their women began to use such things.'"
