I was sitting beside Abu Umama bin Sahl while he was facing the muezzin. The muezzin said the takbir twice, so Abu Umama said the takbir twice. The muezzin testified twice that there is no god but Allah, so Abu Umama testified twice. The muezzin testified twice that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, so Abu Umama testified twice.Then he turned to me and said, "This is how Muawiya bin Abu Sufyan narrated it to me from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."
حدثنا يعلى ويزيد بن هارون قالا حدثنا
كنت إلى جنب أبي أمامة بن سهل وهو مستقبل المؤذن وكبر المؤذن اثنتين فكبر أبو أمامة اثنتين وشهد أن لا إله إلا الله اثنتين فشهد أبو أمامة اثنتين وشهد المؤذن أن محمدا رسول الله اثنتين وشهد أبو أمامة اثنتين ثم التفت إلي فقال هكذا حدثني معاوية بن أبي سفيان عن رسول الله ﷺ
