He was a companion of the Prophet. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform the ritual bath on the day of Jumuah, the day of Arafah, the day of Fitr, and the day of Nahr. He said, "Fakeh bin Saad used to instruct his family to perform the ritual bath on these days."
حدثنا عبد الله قال حدثني نصر بن علي قال حدثنا يوسف بن خالد قال حدثنا أبو جعفر الخطمي عن عبد الرحمن بن عقبة بن الفاكه
وكانت له صحبة أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يغتسل يوم الجمعة ويوم عرفة ويوم الفطر ويوم النحر قال وكان الفاكه بن سعد يأمر أهله بالغسل في هذه الأيام
Its isnad is extremely daif, because of Yusuf bin Khalid bin Umayr Samti, who is discarded. Ibn Main and Ibn Hibban called him a liar, and they accused him of fabrication. He followed the school of Abu Hanifa. The hadith was narrated by Ibn Majah, 1/417, number 1316, in the chapter on establishing prayer, on what has been said about bathing on the two Eids, and the hadith is among the additional narrations. Abdul-Rahman bin Uqbah bin Fakih is described in Taqrib as unknown. In his place, the hadith in Sahihayn about the Friday bath can be used, since if that bath is required, then the bath for the two Eids is required even more so. As for Abu Jafar Khatami, he is Umayr bin Yazid Ansari, who is acceptable, and his hadith appears in the Sunan.
