He presented a wild donkey to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was at al-Abwa or Waddan, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned it to him. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the look on my face, he said, "We only returned it to you because we are in the state of ihram."
حدثنا عبد الله حدثنا إسحاق بن منصور قال أخبرنا عبد الله بن مسلمة عن مالك عن ابن شهاب عن عبيد الله بن عبد الله بن عتبة بن مسعود عن عبد الله بن عباس
أنه أهدى لرسول الله ﷺ وهو بالأبواء أو بودان حمارا وحشيا فرده عليه رسول الله ﷺ فلما رأى رسول الله ﷺ ما في وجهي قال لم نرده عليك إلا أنا حرم
Its isnad is sahih. Abdullah bin Maslama is Qanabi, a trustworthy narrator among the senior teachers, and among the senior narrators of Muwatta.
