The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever goes to a fortune-teller and believes what he says, his prayers will not be accepted for forty days."
قال حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن عبيد الله قال حدثني نافع عن صفية
عن النبي ﷺ قال من أتى عرافا فصدقه بما يقول لم يقبل له صلاة أربعين يوما
Its isnad is sahih, its narrators are trustworthy and well known. Ubaydullah is Ibn Abdullah bin Umar bin Khattab, and Nafi is the freedman of Ibn Umar, the well-known imam. Safiyyah is the daughter of Abu Ubayd, the wife of Abdullah bin Umar, who may have attained his lifetime, though it is also said she did not, and she is a trustworthy successor.The hadith is found in Muslim 4/1751, number 2230, in the chapter on greetings, the prohibition of soothsaying. Hakim graded it sahih in 1/8, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
