Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman, who had pledged allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ, reported that the Prophet ﷺ called for Shayb, who unlocked the Kabah. When the Prophet ﷺ entered the House and then came out, after he had finished and Shayb had returned, a messenger from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came summoning him. Shayb went to him, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "I saw a ram's horn inside the House, so conceal it."Mansur said, Abdullah bin Musafi narrated to me from my mother, from Umm Uthman bint Sufyan, that the Prophet ﷺ said to him in the hadith, "It is not fitting that there be anything in the House that distracts those who pray."
Its chain is sahih. Abdullah is Ibn Mubarak, Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman is Ibn Abu Dhib, and Mansur bin Abdul-Rahman is Ibn Talha bin Harith Hijabi Makki, a well-known trustworthy narrator whose hadith appears in the Sahihayn. His mother's name was Safiya bint Shayba, who had seen the Prophet and is a companion by unanimous agreement. The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud 2/215, no. 2030, in the chapters on the rites of pilgrimage, in the section on the stone, and by Abdul-Razzaq 5/88, no. 9083, in the chapters on Hajj, in the section on the horn of the ram, and by Tabarani in al-Kabir 9/55, no. 8396, and by Humaydi 2/257, no. 565.The meaning of the hadith is that when the Prophet ﷺ entered the Kaaba, he found the horn of the ram, or its two horns as in the version of Abdul-Razzaq, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that it be buried, since in the pre-Islamic era people believed it was the horns of the ram of Ibrahim, with which Allah ransomed Ismail. He ordered it buried so that people would not become preoccupied with it.(1) He is Abdullah bin Musafi bin Shayba, and he is trustworthy, his hadith was accepted, and no one criticized him. His mother was Saada bint Abdullah bin Wahb bin Uthman bin Abu Talha, but he does not report from her. Rather, he reports from the mother of Mansur, who is Safiya, and this is likewise found in the Musnad that comes after this one, "Mansur, from his maternal uncle Musafi, from Safiya bint Shayba."
