The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out upon a group from Aslam who were competing in archery at the marketplace. He said, "Shoot, sons of Ismail, for your father was an archer. Shoot, and I am with the sons of so-and-so," siding with one of the two teams.The other side lowered their hands and stopped shooting.He said, "Shoot."They said, "Messenger of Allah, how can we shoot when you are with the sons of so-and-so?"He replied, "Shoot, and I am with all of you."
قال حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن يزيد بن أبي عبيد قال حدثني
خرج رسول الله ﷺ على قوم من أسلم وهم يتناضلون في السوق فقال ارموا يا بني إسماعيل فإن أباكم كان راميا ارموا وأنا مع بني فلان لأحد الفريقين فأمسكوا أيديهم فقال ارموا قالوا يا رسول الله كيف نرمي وأنت مع بني فلان قال ارموا وأنا معكم كلكم
Its isnad is sahih. It has already preceded at 3444 with similar wording. It is also found in Bukhari 6/91, no. 2899, in Fath al-Bari, in the book of jihad, chapter on encouragement to shoot, and in Ibn Hibban 1646, Mawarid, and in Tabarani, al-Kabir 3/174, 7/36, and in Tayalisi 1183, Minhah, and in Saeed bin Mansur 2456, Hind edition, and in Hakim 2/94.
