I used to come to the mosque with Salama, and he would pray beside the pillar near the Mushaf. I said, "Abu Muslim, I see you make a point of praying at this particular pillar."He replied, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ make a point of praying beside it."
قال حدثنا مكي قال حدثنا
كنت آتي مع سلمة المسجد فيصلي مع الأسطوانة التي عند المصحف فقلت يا أبا مسلم أراك تتحرى الصلاة عند هذه الأسطوانة قال فإني رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يتحرى الصلاة عندها
Its isnad is sahih. It is found in Bukhari 1/577, no. 502, Fath, in the book of prayer, chapter on praying toward the pillar, and in Muslim 1/364, no. 509, in the book of prayer, chapter on the worshipper's proximity to the sutrah, and in Ibn Majah 1/459, no. 1430.
