Abu Burda bin Niyar reported,

I attended the Eid prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. My wife went against my wishes, for when I went out to the prayer, she went to my sacrificial animal, slaughtered it, and prepared a meal from it.When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had finished leading us in prayer and I returned to her, she brought me a meal already prepared. I said, "Where did this come from?"She replied, "It is your sacrifice. We slaughtered it and prepared a meal from it for you so you could have your morning meal when you came."I said to her, "By Allah, I fear that this is not permissible."So I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned that to him. He said, "Whoever slaughtered before we finished our rite, his sacrifice counts for nothing. So offer your sacrifice."I said, "I looked for a mature animal but could not find one." So I came to him and said, "By Allah, Messenger of Allah, I have looked for a mature animal but could not find one."He said, "Then look for a young sheep and sacrifice it." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted him a concession to use a young sheep, and he sacrificed it since he could not find a mature animal.

عن أبي بردة بن نيار قال

شهدت العيد مع رسول الله ﷺ قال فخالفت امرأتي حيث غدوت إلى الصلاة إلى أضحيتي فذبحتها وصنعت منها طعاما قال فلما صلى بنا رسول الله ﷺ وانصرفت إليها جاءتني بطعام قد فرغ منه فقلت أنى هذا قالت أضحيتك ذبحناها وصنعنا لك منها طعاما لتغدى إذا جئت قال فقلت لها والله لقد خشيت أن يكون هذا لا ينبغي قال فجئت إلى رسول الله ﷺ فذكرت ذلك له فقال ليست بشيء من ذبح قبل أن نفرغ من نسكنا فليس بشيء فضح قال فالتمست مسنة فلم أجدها قال فجئته فقلت والله يا رسول الله لقد التمست مسنة فما وجدتها قال فالتمس جذعا من الضأن فضح به قال فرخص له رسول الله ﷺ في الجذع من الضأن فضحى به حيث لم يجد المسنة
