The envoy of Banu Muntafiq said, I and a companion of mine set out and traveled until we reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, but we did not find him. Ayesha fed us dates and prepared a porridge for us. Then the Prophet ﷺ came hurrying and asked, "Have you been given anything to eat?"We replied, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."While we were like that, the shepherd drove the sheep into the pen carrying a newborn lamb on his arm. The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Has it given birth?"The shepherd answered, "Yes."He said, "Then slaughter a sheep for us." Then he turned to us and said, "Do not think." He did not say, "Let him not think," "that we slaughtered the sheep on your account. We have a flock of one hundred and we do not want it to exceed that. So whenever the shepherd brings us a newborn lamb, we order him to slaughter a sheep."The man said, "Messenger of Allah, tell me about ablution."He replied, "When you perform ablution, do it thoroughly. Run your fingers between your fingers and toes. When you sniff water into your nose, do so deeply, unless you are fasting."The man said, "Messenger of Allah, I have a wife," and he mentioned her sharp tongue and how she mistreated him.The Prophet ﷺ said, "Divorce her."He said, "Messenger of Allah, she has been my companion and has borne me children."He said, "Then keep her and instruct her. If there is any good in her, she will respond. And do not beat your wife as you beat your slave-girl."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق قال أخبرنا ابن جريج قال حدثنا إسماعيل بن كثير أبو هاشم المكي
وافد بني المنتفق قال انطلقت أنا وصاحب لي حتى انتهينا إلى رسول الله ﷺ فلم نجده فأطعمتنا عائشة تمرا وعصدت لنا عصيدة إذ جاء النبي ﷺ يتقلع فقال هل أطعمتم من شيء قلنا نعم يا رسول الله فبينا نحن كذلك دفع راعي الغنم في المراح على يده سخلة قال هل ولدت قال نعم قال فاذبح لنا شاة ثم أقبل علينا فقال لا تحسبن ولم يقل لا يحسبن إنا ذبحنا الشاة من أجلكما لنا غنم مائة لا نريد أن تزيد عليها فإذا ولد الراعي بهمة أمرناه بذبح شاة فقال يا رسول الله أخبرني عن الوضوء قال إذا توضأت فأسبغ وخلل الأصابع وإذا استنثرت فأبلغ إلا أن تكون صائما قال يا رسول الله إن لي امرأة فذكر من طول لسانها وإيذائها فقال طلقها قال يا رسول الله إنها ذات صحبة وولد قال فأمسكها وأمرها فإن يك فيها خير فستفعل ولا تضرب ظعينتك ضربك أمتك
