Abu Talha said, "We were sitting in the open courtyards when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by us and said, 'What is the matter with you sitting in the roadside gatherings? Avoid sitting in the roadways.'"We replied, "Messenger of Allah, we sat down for no harmful purpose. We are simply reminding one another and conversing."He said, "Then give the gatherings their due."We asked, "And what is their due?"He answered, "Lowering the gaze, returning the greeting, and speaking kindly."
حدثنا عفان حدثنا عبد الواحد بن زياد حدثنا عثمان بن حكيم قال حدثني
قال أبو طلحة كنا جلوسا بالأفنية فمر بنا رسول الله ﷺ فقال ما لكم ولمجالس الصعدات اجتنبوا مجالس الصعدات قال قلنا يا رسول الله إنا جلسنا لغير ما بأس نتذاكر ونتحدث قال فأعطوا المجالس حقها قلنا وما حقها قال غض البصر ورد السلام وحسن الكلام
