The companions complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about their wounds on the day of Uhud and asked, "How do you command us to bury our slain?"He said, "Dig the graves wide and deep, make them well, and bury two or three in a single grave. Place the one who knew the most Quran at the front."Hisham said, "So my father was placed at the front of two others."

شكوا إلى رسول الله ﷺ القرح يوم أحد وقالوا كيف تأمر بقتلانا قال احفروا وأوسعوا وأحسنوا وادفنوا في القبر الاثنين والثلاثة وقدموا أكثرهم قرآنا قال هشام فقدم أبي بين يدي اثنين
