The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had forbidden us from eating the meat of our sacrifices beyond three days. I set out on a journey, then returned to my family a few days after the Festival of Sacrifice.My wife brought me a leg of meat that had been turned into dried strips. I asked her, "Where did you get this dried meat?"She replied, "From our sacrifices."I said to her, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not forbid us from eating it beyond three days?"She answered, "He has since granted the people permission to do so."I did not believe her until I sent word to my brother Qatada bin Numan, who had been at Badr, asking him about it. He sent back word saying, "Eat your food, for she has spoken the truth. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has granted the Muslims a dispensation regarding this."
قال حدثنا يعقوب قال حدثنا أبي عن محمد بن إسحاق قال حدثني محمد بن علي بن حسين بن جعفر وأبي إسحاق بن يسار عن عبد الله بن خباب مولى بني عدي بن النجار
كان رسول الله ﷺ قد نهانا عن أن نأكل لحوم نسكنا فوق ثلاث قال فخرجت في سفر ثم قدمت على أهلي وذلك بعد الأضحى بأيام قال فأتتني صاحبتي بساق قد جعلت فيه قديدا فقلت لها أنى لك هذا القديد فقالت من ضحايانا قال فقلت لها أولم ينهنا رسول الله ﷺ عن أن نأكلها فوق ثلاث قال فقالت إنه قد رخص للناس بعد ذلك قال فلم أصدقها حتى بعثت إلى أخي قتادة بن النعمان وكان بدريا أسأله عن ذلك قال فبعث إلي أن كل طعامك فقد صدقت قد أرخص رسول الله ﷺ للمسلمين في ذلك
