I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention Friday and say, "Whoever washes himself and performs the full ritual bath, then sets out early and arrives early, walking and not riding, then draws near to the imam, listens attentively, and does not engage in idle talk, he will receive the reward equivalent to a full year of fasting and praying through its nights."Yahya bin Harith claimed that he memorized from Abu Ashath that he said to him, "For every step he takes, he receives the reward equivalent to a year of fasting and praying through its nights."Yahya said, "But I did not hear him say, 'walking and not riding.'"
قال حدثنا علي بن إسحاق قال أخبرنا علي بن المبارك قال أخبرنا عبد الرحمن بن يزيد بن جابر قال حدثني عبد الرحمن الدمشقي قال حدثني أبو الأشعث قال حدثني
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ وذكر الجمعة فقال من غسل واغتسل ثم غدا وابتكر وخرج يمشي ولم يركب ثم دنا من الإمام فأنصت ولم يلغ كان له كأجر سنة صيامها وقيامها قال وزعم يحيى بن الحارث أنه حفظ عن أبي الأشعث أنه قال له بكل خطوة كأجر سنة صيامها وقيامها قال يحيى ولم أسمعه يقول مشى ولم يركب
