He would pray and gesture toward his sandals while in prayer, then take them and put them on and continue praying in them. He would say, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray in his sandals."
قال حدثنا بهز حدثنا شعبة حدثنا النعمان بن سالم
كان يصلي ويومئ إلى نعليه وهو في الصلاة فيأخذهما فينتعلهما ويصلي فيهما ويقول كان رسول الله ﷺ يصلي في نعليه
