We were in Makkah when Abdullah bin Zubayr came out to us and forbade combining umrah with Hajj as tamattu, denying that people had done so with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.This reached Abdullah bin Abbas, who said, "What does Ibn Zubayr know about this? Let him go back to his mother Asma bint Abu Bakr and ask her, for indeed Zubayr returned to her in a state of ihlal, having released from ihram, and she too had released."This reached Asma, who said, "May Allah forgive Ibn Abbas. By Allah, he has spoken crudely. By Allah, Ibn Abbas has told the truth. They released from ihram and we released, and they were intimate with their wives."
قال حدثنا يعقوب بن إبراهيم قال حدثني أبي عن ابن إسحاق قال حدثني
إنا لبمكة إذ خرج علينا عبد الله بن الزبير فنهى عن التمتع بالعمرة إلى الحج وأنكر أن يكون الناس صنعوا ذلك مع رسول الله ﷺ فبلغ ذلك عبد الله بن عباس فقال وما علم ابن الزبير بهذا فليرجع إلى أمه أسماء بنت أبي بكر فليسألها فإن لم يكن الزبير قد رجع إليها حلالا وحلت فبلغ ذلك أسماء فقالت يغفر الله لابن عباس والله لقد أفحش قد والله صدق ابن عباس لقد حلوا وأحللنا وأصابوا النساء
