I saw Abu Lahab at Ukaz following the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, saying, "People, this man has gone astray, so do not let him lead you astray from the gods of your fathers." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was fleeing from him while he pursued him, and we followed along as boys. It is as if I can still see him, cross-eyed, with two long braids, the fairest and most handsome of men.
حدثنا عبد الله حدثنا مصعب بن عبد الله الزبيري قال حدثني عبد العزيز بن محمد بن أبي عبيد عن ابن أبي ذئب عن سعيد بن خالد القارظي
رأيت أبا لهب بعكاظ وهو يتبع رسول الله ﷺ وهو يقول يا أيها الناس إن هذا قد غوى فلا يغوينكم عن آلهة آبائكم ورسول الله ﷺ يفر منه وهو على أثره ونحن نتبعه ونحن غلمان كأني أنظر إليه أحول ذا غديرتين أبيض الناس وأجملهم
Its isnad is sahih, its narrators are trustworthy. Saeed bin Khalid Qarazi is trustworthy and is among the reliable Followers. Haythami mentioned the hadith at 6/22 and attributed it to Abdullah bin Ahmad, saying, "Its narrators are trustworthy," even though it is here with us attributed to Ahmad himself, so perhaps the copy he had did not include his transmission from his father.
