When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out on the expedition of Tabuk, he left Ali behind. Ali said to him, "Are you leaving me behind?"He replied, "Are you not content that you should be to me as Harun was to Musa, except that there is no prophet after me?"
Its isnad is hasan, Allah willing. Abdullah bin Habib bin Abu Thabit is trustworthy, Ibn Main and others declared him trustworthy.Hamza bin Abdullah Qurashi, Bukhari mentioned him in al-Kabir 2/1/45 without noting any criticism, and Ibn Hibban listed him among the trustworthy narrators. As for Abu Hatim, he claimed that the Hamza bin Abdullah in this hadith is a different, unknown person, not the Qurashi, so it seems he simply did not recognize him. The approach of Bukhari and Ibn Hibban is more reliable, especially since Bukhari mentioned this very hadith in the biography of the Qurashi, narrating it from Abu Ahmad Zubayri with this same isnad. His father, Abdullah Qurashi, is mentioned in al-Tahdhib without any note of criticism or endorsement, and it seems this too followed Abu Hatim's view that he is a different person from the Qurashi. I did not find another biography for him, since the volume of Tarikh Bukhari containing his biography has not yet been printed. In any case, he is a Tabii, so he should be given the benefit of the doubt and accepted until we find some criticism of him.Regarding this hadith, the Hafiz noted in al-Tahdhib 5:183 and 6:92 that Nasai narrated it in Khasais Ali. This hadith has already been mentioned several times with other sahih chains, the most recent being number 1583.
