Ubayy sought permission from the Prophet ﷺ and began drawing close to him and embracing him. Then he said, "Prophet of Allah, what is the thing that may not lawfully be withheld?"He replied, "Water."Then he said, "Prophet of Allah, what is the thing that may not lawfully be withheld?"He replied, "Salt."Then he said, "Prophet of Allah, what is the thing that may not lawfully be withheld?"The Prophet ﷺ said, "If you do good, it is better for you."So his statements ended at water and salt. That man would not withhold anything, however little it might be.
