He caught two rabbits but could not find a blade to slaughter them with, so he slaughtered them with a sharp stone. He then came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who instructed him to eat them.
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن عاصم الأحول عن الشعبي
نه صاد أرنبين فلم يجد حديدة يذبحهما بها فذبحهما بمروة فأتى رسول الله ﷺ فأمره بأكلهما
Its isnad is sahih, its narrators are well known, and the hadith was mentioned earlier in similar form at 14423. It is found in Abu Dawud, in the chapter on sacrifices, 3/102, no. 2822, in Tirmidhi, 4/70, no. 1472, in the chapter on hunting, and in Nasai, 7/225, no. 4399, in the chapter on sacrifices.
