I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "When Allah gathers the first and the last on the Day about which there is no doubt, a caller will proclaim, 'Whoever associated anyone with Allah
in a deed he performed, let him seek his reward from someone other than Allah
, for Allah
is the most independent of all from any partnership.'"
Its chain of transmission is hasan, because of Ziyad bin Mina, whose hadith Tirmidhi graded as hasan. The hadith was reported by Tirmidhi 5/314, no. 3154, in the tafsir of Surah Kahf, where he said, hasan gharib, and by Ibn Majah 2/1406, no. 4203, in the chapter on asceticism, on showing off and seeking praise. The hadith with the same meaning was also reported by Muslim 4/2289, no. 2985, along with many corroborating narrations.
