Someone came to us from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has forbidden a practice that was convenient for us, but obedience to Allah and obedience to His Messenger ﷺ is more beneficial for us. He forbade us from cultivating any land except land whose ownership one of us holds, or land granted to someone as a gift."
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا عمر بن ذر عن مجاهد
جاءنا من عند رسول الله ﷺ فقال نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن أمر كان يرفق بنا وطاعة الله وطاعة رسول الله ﷺ أرفق بنا نهانا أن نزرع أرضا إلا أرضا يملك أحدنا رقبتها أو منحة رجل
Its isnad is sahih. Umar bin Dharr bin Abdullah Hamdani, Abu Dharr Kufi, is trustworthy according to them, but they criticized him for holding the view of Irja, and his hadith appears in Bukhari and elsewhere. The hadith has already appeared at 15752.
